Chelsea FC 3(Costa 17’, Schurrle 21’, Ivanovic 34’) - 1 Burnley
After a full weekend of opening matches, Chelsea kicked off their Premier League campaign away to Burnley. Although conceding early to the home team, Chelsea responded three minutes later with a calm strike from Diego Costa. Totally in control, a sublime Fabregas pass (no, seriously, you will want to watch it about 18 times) to a lonely Schurrle created a contender for goal of the season. Typical Ivanovic scored cooly after a Fabregas corner. The exclusion of Petr Cech saw the introduction of Thibaut Courtois, who looked comfortable and made several key saves. Didier Drogba also made his debut of sorts late in the second half and threatened with a strike from yards out that eventually went wide - but a preview of what’s to come, hopefully.
